Le Poém

Joélle ,15 ,Richburg, NY

I see the people at my side;
They call themselves my kin.
But differences I cannot hide,
For they lie deep within.

I've been told time and time again
That I'm not the only one.
But the person that I should've been
Has faded with the sun.

Similarities I cannot find
Although I've looked and looked.
The things that they share are not mine.
I feel alone and rooked.

I feel as though I'm odd and strange.
I've been told just the same.
I feel as though I'm barely sane . . .
And know not from whence I came.

This may seem strange, weird, or uncool,
But this is how I am.
I may be different to you
Yet still, I'm all but damned.
