Sew silk flowers like this bright pink Gerber daisy onto an old beach bag for an updated look!
With summer just around the corner, your mind may be at the beach, but given our scary economy, your savings may have gone south.
What's a fashionista to do? Reinvest. Cover up last year's beach bag and get all tropical for pennies!
What you'll need:
Old purse
Silk flowers (cheap at shops like Jo-Ann and Michaels)
Needle and thread
Scissors
If you're using a mixed bouquet, get an idea of the way you want to arrange your flowers on your bag before you begin sewing.
Thread your needle and knot it at the end. Pull it through your bag from the inside out wherever you want your flower to go. Stick it right through the flower, then back through the bag. Do that a few times to make sure it's on good and tight, knot it, clip it, and move on to the next! Easy as pie!
Bright ideas:
Use straight pins to attach your flowers to "test" your arrangement before sewing.
Decorate with only one row of flowers, or an arrangement in the middle of your bag. Maybe a couple in one corner.
