Amanda Bynes makes the leap from the small to big screen once again in the laugh-out-loud comedy She's the Man. Recently, TEEN sat down with the funny girl to talk about her latest role and, pssst...she has some advice for all of you aspiring actresses out there.
TEEN: What were your favorite scenes to film In She's the Man -- there were so many funny ones?!
AMANDA BYNES: Probably some of the comedy scenes where I'm dressed up as Sebastian - who is my brother - because it's such a fun thing to do -- its different to play somebody else, like literally somebody else.
TEEN: Are there any directors you dream of working with?
A.B.:I'd love to work with Steven Spielberg and Robert Rodriguez. I look up to a lot of different people and hopefully I'll get to work with a lot of them one day.
TEEN: When it comes to your career, who has given you the best advice?
A.B.:Probably my parents who basically said, "Just do it as long as you're always having fun." I love that advice because if you're not enjoying yourself, what's the point?
TEEN: Is there anything else that you've ever thought about doing other than acting?
A.B.::I've always loved drawing and designing, so that might be something one day. I don't really know, I just try to take one thing at a time.
TEEN: Fashion-wise, is there anyone whose style you just love?
A.B.:Kate Moss has really great style. She has always looked effortless when she goes out.
TEEN: Speaking of Kate Moss...How do you feel being a role model to younger girls?
A.B.:I love that and I think its really special because I grew up watching a bunch of shows and always looked up to people in my age group. So be able to be in that is really, really special and really cool.
TEEN: What advice would you give to an aspiring actress?
A.B.: I would say to make sure you're going into it because you love it and not for anyone else. The fame is a part of it that a lot of people like, and that appeals to a lot of people, but I just think that it can really turn a lot of people into something else. For me I really love everything about it, I love the actual performing part. So just make sure you love that and go to acting classes and try to do plays. That has helped me the most.
TEEN: I know you like to give back a lot...Which charities are you the most involved in?
A.B.: I've done various ones for animals and then I've also been a part of volunteering. I just think its important to do things that help out your area. On Thanksgiving I've gone and fed the homeless with my family, and that's always such a nice feeling after you've done it because you literally take everything you have for granted and these people don't even have food, so that always feels good.
TEEN: How do you relax?
A.B.:I definitely love to travel and love to draw. Both of those really calm me down and I'm lucky that I get to travel for my job. I was just in Vancouver and that was really relaxing.
TEEN: Where would you like to see yourself five years from now?
A.B.: I don't know yet. I hope I've been to a lot of foreign places. Right now I've only traveled to a few places. I hope I've been to France and Australia at that point. I hope I'm a little more well-traveled.
