Summer Beauty Survival

Beach season is upon us, so make every second count...especially when it comes to looking good. Here are Quick Fixes to 5 Annoying Beauty Probs...

1: I HAVE RED RAZOR BUMPS
Quick Fix: Smear on a dab of 1% hydrocortisone cream (try Aquanil) to help reduce redness and irritation.
In the Future: Don't shave dry or with soap. Instead, swab on shaving cream. Change your blade regularly and don't use a cheapo disposable - for best results use a razor that's specifically designed for girls. After shaving, smooth legs with lotion.

2: MY HAIR IS FRIED!
Quick Fix: Rub sesame or olive oil on to scraggly ends before bed, then wash your hair in the morning.
In the Future: Get a trim! Try to stick to a four-week schedulre during the summer to keep tresses in tip-top condition. Between cuts, slick a leave-in conditioner onto damp hair before playing outdoors or swimming!

3: MY SELF TANNER IS ALL STREAKY!
Quick Fix: Suds up in the shower and lightly scrub the uneven areas with a loofah.
In the Future: Start the process corre ctly! Exfoliate in the shower (paying close attention to knees and elbows), then smooth on a little moisturizer to give your tanner glide-ability. Also, try using a tinted self-tanner so you'll be able to see whether you're smoothing it on evenly.

4: SUMMER FUN MAKES MY MASCARA RUN!
Quick Fix: Dampen a tissue or your finger and run it around the messy area. Or, use a clean, moistened eyeshadow applicator or cotton swap to pick up streaks.
In the Future: Don't put lotion on under your eyes. Use clear mascara (like ModelPro Lash Gloss, $16, sephora.com) or a water-proof formula (try Mabelline Great Lash, $6, drug stores.)

5: I'M TOTALLY SUNBURNT!
Quick Fix: Soak a washcloth in milk or cold tea and gently press onto tender areas. Or try smoothing cold yogurt onto your most burned spots - let it set for 15 minutes then shower off. The lactic acid in the yogurt will help take the sting out of your burn!
In the Future: Stock up on aloe vera gel and keep in in the fridge for a blissful burn-buster. Better yet, stop the burn before it starts by always being sure to wear at least an SPF 30 when you're out in the sun! Don't forget your lips and tips of your ears - they fry super- quickly!
