Teen Talks To: JoJo

Recently Teenmag writer Nicole Pomarico sat down with one of our faves — JoJo — for a little chat about her new Web TV series, her musical idols, and much more.

Here's what she had to say....

Teenmag: You're a part of Acuvue's Hampton High Web TV series, which can be found at hamptonhighrevealed.com. What's that about?
JoJo: It's a series of episodes that involve this love triangle between three high schoolers. It touches on issues that I think teens will be able to relate to such as insecurity, confidence, and things of that nature. It's something I wanted to be a part of since I use Acuvue contacts, so when they got in touch with me, I knew it was a perfect fit.

Teenmag: Sounds fun! You've also been busy touring with your band and working on your new album — how is that coming?
JoJo: Good! I'm not going to get to the studio and actually start work on it until early next year, but right now I am writing and working with producers and getting some ideas down. It's going great and I'm really excited about having new material because it will show who I am as an artist.

Teenmag: Who do you look to for inspiration in your music?
JoJo: Beyoncé. I think she's incredible as an entertainer, a role model, and a writer. I think she can do it all.

Teenmag: Yeah, she's awesome.... And who would you most like to work with?
JoJo: I would love to work with Nickleback. I think they're an incredible band. One of my favorites.

Teenmag: Do you prefer music to acting?
JoJo: Well, music is something that I have to do on a regular basis. It really is my life and I absolutely love it. It's a part of my day-to-day. So if I had to choose, it would be music. But I love acting too. I've been doing it since I was 6. I love doing both.

Teenmag: What is one thing most people don't know about you?
JoJo: That I still have to go to school. I don't attend an actual school but I'm still following through with high school. I do work with a tutor for about six hours a day. It's hard core but definitely worth it, and it's my main focus now — finishing up high school before I release my new album and apply to college.

Teenmag: What three things do you always have with you?
JoJo: I always have my iPod with me, I always have my Sidekick with me, and I always have my Bare Minerals. Bare Minerals is my favorite product. It's mineral foundation that you swirl, tap, and buff onto your skin and it makes a big difference and covers up anything you need covered up.

Teenmag: Where is your favorite place to shop?
JoJo: Newbury Street in Boston. It's not too far from where I live and it has everything there. Lots of really cool boutique shops as well as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's.

Teenmag: Who is your Hollywood crush?
JoJo: I don't really have a Hollywood crush. I do think David Beckham is beautiful, and he is now in Hollywood, so, hey, God bless America.
