More than 32 million votes were cast in the first week of "American Idol" audience voting and, after season 3 winner Fantasia's rousing performance of "I'm Here" from her upcoming role in Broadway's "The Color Purple," 4 wannabes were sent a-packing.

America voted and decided that Rudy Cardenas, Paul Kim, Amy Krebs and Nicole Tranquillo couldn't hold their own. Cardenas, from North Hollywood, CA, sang "Free Ride,"
while Kim, of Saratoga, CA, sang "Careless Whisper." Krebs, who currently lives in Federal Way, WA, entertained the audience with "I Can't Make You Love Me," and Tranquillo, from Philadelphia, PA, sang "Stay."

Also, Ryan Seacrest announced that the following superstars will step on to the "AI" stage this season...

Tony Bennett, Bon Jovi, Barry Gibb, Jennifer Lopez, Lulu, Martina McBride, Peter Noone, Diana Ross and Gwen Stefani! Wow, should be cool. Oh, and Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler are set too; the latter will grace us with her presence next week when she performs a new single. (Wonder whether Simon will be able to keep his snide comments to himself. Um, nah.)
