A move that's leaving some parents feeling duped by the studio - they feel pressured into having to have crammed the movie in to their Super Bowl weekend plans or risk incurring the wrath of their daughters - when, in actuality, they could've waited a week - or 6 - to see the film.
Regardless as to intent, the movie did smash records for a weekend that heretofor has been a tough on for big screen fare.
The movie was shown on every one of our country's 683 screens that are equipped to handle 3D films, and averaged $45,534 per screen over the weekend. (A typical blockbuster opens in 3,000 theaters and averages about $7,000 at each!)
