Finally! Tresses That Obey Your Commands

We've got the tools, tricks and techniques that will make you mistress of your mane-- whether you want to pump up curl, color, volume or shine.

Hair-Envy Solution #1
From Frizzy To Tousled Curls

AT-HOME FIX: Smooth down the top layer of hair with a balm or leave-in conditioner (we like Phyto Conditioner 7, Sebastian Grease or Aussie Vitamend Leave-In Therapy).

Apply the product to the ends of your towel-dried hair, working it in to the roots. This prevents product overload and helps keep the ends glued together.

Give your product a few minutes to sink in, then on a low-heat setting blowdry your hair, directing the air down toward the crown of your head. Let the ends dry naturally.

Velcro rollers will also loosen up too-tight curls. Dry your hair halfway, then roll large sections (about 1-inch wide) under and up. Let your hair dry naturally or use a blowdryer if you're in a hurry.

Finish with a shine enhancer like Redken CAT polishing shine or Tresemme TresShine.

SALON SOLUTION: Mild relaxing treatments can cure frizz and generally last three to five months. Cost is between $75 and $150, depending on hair length.

There's also the low-cost way to banish frizzies: the ole hair trim every six weeks.

Boca Raton, Fla., colorist Thais Bradford of the Peter Coppola Salon coats her clients' frizzies with color or clear gloss treatments to weigh down the cuticle, scaring those fierce frizzies away.
