My gut feeling says this: A lot of people get all the way through life without ever ending up in jail. Pick a guy who's on the right path. It's less worry and work for you, and your dad will be impressed by his daughter's good judgment! You say you're not officially dating yet. So why start? Don't go there!

It sounds like your dad has your best interests at heart. And the fact that you care about what your father thinks makes me believe that the two of you have a pretty good relationship. You should never pick a boy over your father because boyfriends come and go, but your dad will always be your dad.
