A good way to start up a friendship with a guy is to talk about something you know he's interested in. Pay attention: Is he a basketball fan? Is he addicted to Grand Theft Auto? Does always get the highest score in math class? After you've done your research, give him a call. Tell him you bet your friend that Shaquille O'Neal is the tallest guy in the NBA and you want to know if you're right. Ask him to tell you all about the new version of the game, if he's played it, or whether, maybe some day he'll teach you how to play. Or just ask him for some help in math. Once you break the ice, the conversation should start rolling.

Remember, too, that by nature, girls are much more talkative and feel the need to chat a LOT. Guys, on the other hand, tend to keep things inside and can't really relate to talking just to talk. So, do NOT take it personally if he's quiet or gives you one word answers. And, never, ever, EVER do all the calling. You may be dying to hear the sound of his voice, but to boys nothing is more annoying than some girl who phones all the time. Let him call you.
