Both oily and dry hair
My hair's oily at the roots and dry at the ends. How should I care for it?
— M.W., Reading, Pa.
Shampoo hair at least once a day. Wash hair using lukewarm water—hot water can cause the pores on your scalp to produce more oil. Condition the ends of your hair only. Leave the conditioner on for a minute or two before rinsing. You may want to try a conditioner that can be left in your hair, such as L'Oreal's Studio Line Light Step No–Rinse Conditioner. When styling your hair, blowdry using a warm (not hot) setting. Hot air can trigger oil production on your scalp and dry out the ends of your hair. Handle your hair as little as possible, so any oil from your hands won't get transferred to your hair.
