Conservatively! Tweezing is an art in itself, and many of us have gotten overly artistic and made our brows ghastly, ghostly, or gone. The best, always-fashionable look is a natural shape — one that follows the natural curve of your eye and your lid. The length and arch of the “perfect” brow is different for everyone, but it should follow along your brow bone, which you can feel if you run your finger along your eyebrow. With a magnifying mirror, pluck the hairs under and over the bone. Tweeze one hair at a time in the direction it grows. Next, to find the right length for you, look in the mirror and hold a pencil from the side of your nostril past the outside corner of your eye. Tweeze until your brow doesn’t extend past the pencil. Tweeze stray hairs between brows, too. (Another option: For a foolproof shape, look for Lana G.’s xPRESSive BROWS stencil set at drugstores.) An ace pair of tweezers is essential. Tweezerman makes a great stainless steel number with a slanted tip that “grabs” hairs. It’s kind of expensive (about $20), but definitely worth the investment! If your skin screams “Oh, pluck,” and goes red and crazy on you, soothe it with a dab of witch hazel or Sea Breeze.
